Amazing rare soul from the 80s — most of it so obscure, it hardly got any circulation at the time! The package was put together by Peoples Potential — that ultra-hip label that’s dedicated to finding funk so rare, few folks have ever heard it before — including unreleased nuggets by obscure local acts around the country, most of whom never got any notice outside their immediate region! Because of that, the set’s an amazing discovery in music — filled with tremendous little cuts we’d never have stumbled upon otherwise — wicked groovers that are heavy in boogie influences, but also run a nice spectrum of 80s groove — with some occasional old school influences thrown into the mix as well. Almost all tracks are uptempo, and there’s a nicely low-fi aesthetic that unites all these cuts from disparate sources — titles that include “Tasty Tune” by Minority Band, “Universal Language” by Ballplayers, “Get The Feelin” by TMS, “Time To Throw Down” by JPs Force, “Hold That Groove” by Jim Bennett, “Candy Man” by Caprice, “Mizz Mean” by Saavy, “You Know I Love You” by George Smallwood, “All Party People” by Mix-O-Rap, “By My Side” by Checker Kabb, “Rejuvenate The Funk” by Satellite Band, “Funky Beat” by Crunch, and “Message In The Music” by Initials.
